Alex Scholfield

Visual Caption Head

Alex Scholfield, 26 years old, 10+ years performing and teaching experience. -- Alex has been involved in the marching arts since 2012 performing in several drum and bugle corps including The Sacramento Mandarins and The Cavaliers. Alex has also been teaching music and visual pedagogy since 2018 taking on roles such as Visual Caption-head and lead drill designer in several schools across the country. Music education has played a major role in shaping Alex into a leader and role model in the marching arts community and believes it is an important experience in any young persons music education by encouraging self discipline as well as creating friendships through the arts that last a lifetime.

Claire Marie

Claire Marie, 18, 6+ years performing, 2+ years teaching
Claire has been involved in music programs for over 10 years, growing up in a family of musicians. She started band in the 3rd grade and has continued since through symphonic band, jazz band, marching band, and winter seasons. Claire currently teaches private lessons at Mad Music, as well as teaching at Westwood High School.

This will be Claire’s second year with Westwood. In the future, she plans to major in Music Education at ASU, while continuing to teach at Westwood! Band and music in general have shaped Claire’s life in the most positive ways, through all the trials and successes, it has become a goal of hers to spread the love of music for the rest of her life.

Jordan Gerig

Percussion Caption Head

Jordan Gerig is 29 with 15+ years performing and teaching experience.

Beginning with concert percussion in 5th grade and marching percussion in 6th grade, going as far as performing with ASU Sun Devil Marching band and Breakthrough Indoor Percussion. 

Jordan has taught many years in the arts of percussion and performance starting with Corona Del Sol HS as Bass Tech, 2 years in Idaho for Hillcrest HS as Caption Head, and is currently teaching at Westwood HS and Casteel HS for their fall and winter program as their Caption Head.

Performing arts has been a leading drive in purpose and motivation for many years, molding career choices and passion for helping the Arizona valley in the education of music.

Dakota Neal

Color Guard Caption Head

Dakota Neal is in her first year as Westwood High Schools Color Guard Caption Head. Dakota marched with Millennium High School with their marching band and winter guard for 4 years. She has also spun a summer of Drum Corps with the Academy Drum and Bugle Corps. Today, Dakota spins with the Sun Devil Marching Band and with Fenix Independent.

Dakota is currently majoring in Elementary Education at Arizona State University and she excited to be able to use these skills for teaching color guard. Dakota truly believes that Westwood students are capable of success and are able to achieve whatever they put their minds to and she cannot wait to help them achieve their color guard goals.
